Telford

Following the settlement of the region by German immigrants, the area, which now comprises the Borough of Telford, was predominantly an agricultural community. Crafts such as blacksmithing, carpentry and masonry supplemented the lives of these agriculturalists.

The borough was officially named Telford in 1867 after Sir Thomas Telford, a civil engineer from England, and incorporated in 1886. A school system was implemented in 1937 and the Borough of Telford was established in 1954.

Today, Telford enjoys the benefits of a young and aspiring borough, many of which are the direct result of the insight of the town founding fathers.
