Abington

Abington Township is directly adjoined to the City of Philadelphia. It can be easily accessed from Exit 27 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from the north and by Rt. 611 from Philadelphia.

Abington became a First Class Township in 1906. Over the years, the township has passed through a process of legislative changes common to many American communities.

Only a few laws were needed at the time of the establishment of the township. Subsequently, growth of the community and the complexities of modern life created the need for new and more detailed legislation for the proper function and government of the township.
